DDO Compendium:Code of Conduct

From DDO Compendium

This Code of Conduct is designed to inform users of the DDO Compendium of behavior that is expected of its users.

Editing[edit]

Editors of the DDO Compendium are expected to make edits that are purposeful and progress the overall completeness of this Compendium. Editors are expected to not engage in Edit Warring with other users (to include administrators). If a user takes issue with an edit made by another user, the place to discuss it is in the relevant Talk page for that article. Whenever possible, please try to come to an understanding on the Compendium as opposed to external chatting mediums like Discord.

Account Creation[edit]

While it is not required to create an account on the DDO Compendium to edit articles, doing so is highly encouraged. This not only allows for proper accreditation when making edits, but also keeps your IP address from being publicly exposed. This is a limitation of MediaWiki to where anonymous editors are logged in Recent Changes with their IP address. Being a public wiki, this leaves your IP address exposed to the world and could put you at risk to malicious Internet attacks such as DDoS.

Talk Page Signing[edit]

When making a new entry on a talk page, it is considered good etiquette to "sign" your name to what you say using four tilde characters ~~~~. This creates a signature (which you can customize in your user preferences).

Edit Warring[edit]

Edit Warring is highly frowned upon on all wiki's. Please see our Edit Warring policy for more information.

Vandalism[edit]

Page vandalism is defined as a disruptive behavior that desecrates a page or intentionally removes content in a malicious manner. This includes but is not limited to: spam, result of an edit war, or any other malicious reason.

Vandalizing any page on the DDO Compendium will result in a ban from editing the Compendium further. If you discover page vandalism, report it immediately to an Administrator.

About This Policy[edit]

This policy is a fluid document and may be changed and/or altered as the need arises. If there is something that you feel has been omitted or is inaccurate, please inform an Administrator.
