Sentient Weapons
From DDO Compendium
Overview
Sentient Weapons are weapons that can become sentient. By default, every weapon that is level 20 or higher has this capability. Once a weapons is imbued with sentience, it becomes alive, and can talk to the player while actively being used. It can also be upgraded as it gains experience with abilities of the owners choosing.
Imbuing Sentience
The first part of imbuing a weapon capable of sentience, is to place a Sentient Jewel into that weapon. This occurs by first dragging the weapon over the icon for the sentience interface on the character sheet, found just above the Astral Shard icon:
Drag the selected sentient jewel into the open box at the top right to imbue this weapon with sentience. After that is complete, the interface will change to look like the following.
That will bring up the sentient interface with the screen blank
Drag the selected sentient jewel into the open box at the top right to imbue this weapon with sentience. After that is complete, the interface will change to look like the following.
Leveling
Once you have imbued the weapon with sentience, you need to level the weapon by feeding it other named items. To feed an item, drag it from your inventory to the sentience interface feed area.
As more items are fed to the weapon, the XP increases (shown in the xp location). As you increase the level, you will gain more filigree slots according to the below table:
Slot Count | XP |
---|---|
1 | Free |
2 | 2,000 |
3 | 6,000 |
4 | 12,000 |
5 | 20,000 |
6 | 40,000 |
7 | 60,000 |
8 | 100,000 + 1 Spark |
9 | 150,000 + 2 Sparks |
10 | 210,000 + 3 Sparks |
Sparks
Sparks are items that can be fed to the Sentient weapon, just like the named items that give it XP, but these increase the maximum level. You can currently feed the weapon up to 3 sparks (linked to the right) that will increas the maximum slots from 7 to 10 if all three are used.
Filigree Slots
Filigree slots are locations on the weapon that can be used to give it more capabilities. To add a filigree, you can drag it from your inventory over either an open, or used slot. If the slot is used, dragging a new filigree over that slot will DELETE and REPLACE the existing filigree.
