In Dungeons & Dragons Online, wilderness areas are instanced locations that a party can enter to get to quests. These areas have objectives to complete, in addition to access to quests:

  • Slayers - Slayers give experience points for numbers of kills. For example, you may get XP after 25, 50, 100 and 200 kills. The numbers and the amount of XP is different for each wilderness.
  • Explorers - Explorers are small notes or areas throughout the wilderness. These individually give XP, with a couple of bonuses for finding all of them:
    • Additional XP
    • For wilderness areas where the map is obscured, the whole map will be revealed.
  • Random (Rare) Encounters - Randoms are encounters within the wilderness that aren't always available. When one appears, XP will be awarded if the encounter is completed successfully. Sometimes this is killing a mini boss, sometimes helping them, sometimes protecting them.

Level Ranges[edit]

Wilderness areas are intended for characters within specific level ranges, if you, or anyone in your party is over the level range, Slayers, Explorers and Rares will not be counted for either XP or toward a goal. Characters below the level range will not be able to enter the wilderness area.
