Lions are powerful feline predators that traveled and hunted in large groups, known as prides. Male lions have large manes of golden fur. They are responsible for defending the pride against any attackers. Female lions, who have no manes, are the hunters of the pride. They use group tactics to hunt and provide food for the entire pride.
A male lion is 5 to 8 feet long and weigh 330 to 550 pounds. Females are slightly smaller.
